Description
On the night of the murder, Lady Macbeth ensures that everything is in place. She drugs the guards’ drinks, making them unconscious, and leaves their daggers within reach so that Macbeth can use them to kill Duncan.
Macbeth follows a vision of a bloody dagger to King Duncan. He acknowledges the eerie and supernatural atmosphere of the night, filled with images of witchcraft and murder. He refers to the wolf’s howl and compares his own stealthy movements to those of the predatory animal and the rapist Tarquin.
